I’ve just been having a look at the Mayor of Saltash’s credentials. For a man who is supposed to be representing a very military area he really should hang is head.
On a more positive note he isn’t paid a salary. (Though in my experience most of us would be happy to work without a salary if we had their (polis) expense account.
At least they got his daily value right.October 19, 2018 at 11:00 am #294

On the centenary of the ending of WW1, the mayor of Saltash is cancelling the Remembrance Day Parade citing some pathetic excuse. This is just another chipping away at our values and traditions. We should never forget those who went before us defending our country. There is a petition to have the parade reinstated. Please sign and share. Thank you.October 11, 2018 at 6:11 pm #290October 11, 2018 at 4:16 pm #289October 11, 2018 at 4:14 pm #288October 11, 2018 at 6:18 am #285
There are plans to build houses on the Culloden Battlefield site. This is outrageous. If you feel the same, please sign and share this petition to stop it.
If the link doesn’t work the petition can be found on Change.org.October 10, 2018 at 8:04 pm #284
I recently had an email from a gentleman who is a resident and chair of Hessay parish council. He has seen some photos on my site of 3 troop working on a project in Hessay. He is recording the history of Hessay and has asked if I had any more information I can pass on. Is there anyone out there who remembers working on that project who can contribute anything? My email: firstname.lastname@example.org. Many thanks.

No matter what anyone has heard “on the grapevine” please be assured you can book now without incurring any cost. I’ve been booked a while now and they will not bill me until a few weeks before the event. Nor will you be billed for cancelling. It would be better to ask your questions on here rather than a rerun of last years organised debacle.

Something of interest, perhaps. On the latest BH Trail, we visited Venhuile where 7 Fd Coy built a pontoon bridge and infantry footbridges over the St Quentin canal 5 October 1918. Just five miles further south on the canal at a place called Riqueval, the Staffordshires of the 46th North Midland Division stormed and capture the bridge. This is a link to the centenary commemoration. Hope you find it of interest.October 5, 2018 at 9:34 am #263
